Tito Maglaqui, MD: Driving the Philippines' Renewable Energy Future Through ALPHASOLAR

As the Philippines accelerates its transition toward clean and sustainable energy, one company has consistently played a pivotal role in advancing commercial and industrial solar solutions across the country. At the forefront of this movement is Tito Maglaqui, MD, founder of ALPHASOLAR, whose decades of experience in business, consulting, and renewable energy have positioned him as one of the country’s respected leaders in the solar industry. Maglaqui’s journey into renewable energy was anything but conventional. Before establishing ALPHASOLAR, he built a distinguished career in corporate management, academia, and international development consulting. His diverse professional background laid the foundation for the leadership approach that now drives one of the Philippines’ leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms specializing in solar energy.
From Corporate Leadership to Renewable Energy
Maglaqui began his professional career in 1986 as a Market Analyst at San Miguel Corporation, where he contributed to the development and implementation of the company’s Complementary Distribution System for its beer division. He later joined United Laboratories (Unilab), where he developed one of the company’s earliest market mapping systems for healthcare professionals.
His career eventually transitioned into education, serving as a university professor teaching economics, marketing, and entrepreneurship. As Executive Director of the Institute for Enterprise Development at Angeles University, he led research, consulting, and training initiatives that strengthened his expertise in business development and strategic planning.
Following his academic career, Maglaqui worked as a consultant for numerous internationally funded development programs supported by organizations such as CIDA, JICA, USAID, UNDP, ADB, and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. His work focused on private sector development, infrastructure, healthcare, information and communications technology (ICT), governance, and economic development.
A Turning Point in 2011
Maglaqui entered the renewable energy sector in 2011 after being approached to help establish the Philippines’ first solar power farm for a European solar energy developer.
According to Maglaqui, the project had experienced nearly two years of limited progress before his involvement. Within three months, he successfully completed the project’s contractual requirements, paving the way for its implementation.
That milestone opened opportunities to serve as managing advisor for several European renewable energy developers before eventually founding ALPHASOLAR.
Today, the company provides engineering design, procurement, and construction services for a wide range of commercial and industrial clients, including Viskase Asia Pacific Corporation, Singapore International Airlines Engineering, Kentucky Fried Chicken, San Miguel Foods, Pampanga’s Best, S&R, Puregold, Dizon Farms, Juan D. Nepomuceno & Sons, and numerous other organizations.
Building Growth Through Sustainability
For Maglaqui, business growth goes beyond financial performance.
He said ALPHASOLAR’s expansion strategy is guided by sound economic principles while maintaining strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments. The company places significant emphasis on stakeholder engagement, equal employment opportunities, technological innovation, and customer relationship management.
Its operations are supported by advanced engineering solutions, financial planning tools, customized customer acquisition systems, and strategic partnerships with financial institutions and investors.
Customer-Centered Operations
Maglaqui believes customer satisfaction begins with building a capable and motivated workforce.
ALPHASOLAR invests heavily in employee development through continuous training, competitive compensation, teamwork, and incentive programs. The company also prioritizes transparent communication with clients, objective technical recommendations, and a customer relationship management system designed to ensure smooth project execution from planning to completion.
This customer-first approach has helped establish ALPHASOLAR’s reputation as one of the industry’s most trusted solar EPC providers.
Commitment to Environmental Impact
Beyond business success, ALPHASOLAR remains committed to addressing climate change through renewable energy.
The company’s vision—“A world free from the dangers of global warming and from the rising cost of energy”—reflects its mission of reducing dependence on fossil fuels, improving energy security, lowering electricity costs for businesses, creating sustainable employment, and contributing to environmental preservation.
Maglaqui says these values are embedded throughout the organization’s culture, policies, and day-to-day operations.
Expanding Across the Philippines
ALPHASOLAR’s commitment to excellence was recognized when it received the 2022 EPC Partner of the Year Award from Trina Solar, a significant achievement following the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Building on this recognition, the company continues to pursue nationwide expansion by strengthening its presence across key provinces while increasing its workforce and operational capabilities.
Looking ahead, ALPHASOLAR aims to further expand its renewable energy footprint and explore opportunities beyond the Philippines, supporting broader efforts to accelerate clean energy adoption throughout the region.
A Vision for the Future
With nearly four decades of leadership experience spanning corporate management, education, consulting, and renewable energy, Tito Maglaqui continues to champion sustainable development through innovation and responsible business practices.
As demand for renewable energy continues to rise, ALPHASOLAR remains focused on helping businesses transition toward cleaner, more efficient power solutions while contributing to a more sustainable future for the Philippines and beyond.
